Yesterday Representative Pete Stark of California blasted the President with inflammatory comments because of his veto of the CHP initiative. Stark’s comments contrasted the President’s unwillingness to spend the money on the health care plan with the price tag of the Iraq war.
In a short, two-minute diatribe, Stark twisted the President’s reasons for vetoing the CHP Bill into a way to save money to, “…Blow up innocent people if we can get enough kids to grow old enough so we can send them to Iraq to get their heads blown off for the President’s amusement.”
Democrats in Congress just keep getting bolder and bolder with their scathing comments regarding President Bush and his War on Terror. When will they ever learn? While the war is unfortunate, it is necessary to ensure that the very children Representative Stark accuses the President of ignoring can grow up in a world free from fear and terrorism.
Democrats scream that President Bush is a criminal for involving United States in the Iraq War. They say that our Commander-in-Chief “Lies about the war in Iraq.” And, “The truth is that Bush just likes to blow things up in Iraq, in the United States, and in Congress,” as spoken by Representative Stark.
Starks is well known for his anti-war and ultra-liberal, pro-healthcare stance. As a businessman in the 60’s he began printing peace signs on the checks his bank issued and put a huge peace sign of the bank building. This upstanding patriot voted against every bill brought before Congress to prohibit the desecration of the American flag. He also known as an out-spoken, poorly-restrained boor who cares very little who he steps on and what he says publicly about people he opposes. He has had no qualms about making racially-charged comments, taunting fellow Congress members by calling them “wimps,” “fruitcakes,” or “whores,” or challenging members of Congress to fist-fights.
For a man who seems opposed to violence and dedicated to healthcare he seems remarkably violent and likely to send someone, possibly himself, to the healthcare system he espouses. His behavior is so bad, in fact, that the San Francisco Chronicle reported that, “Only a politician who assumes he has a job for life could behave so badly on a semi-regular basis.” The article goes on to state that his comments would likely get him punched if he walked into an East [San Francisco] Bay tavern. The story also asks, “Surely there must be someone… who could represent the good citizens of the district with class and dignity.” His latest statements regarding the President’s veto and the war drew a rebuke from the Speaker to not refer to the President in a personal manner because he referred to the President as “Bush,” and not the President or President Bush.
In his rant, Stark brings President Bush to task for his willingness to spend money on Iraq rather than for children. That’s tantamount to the kettle calling the pot black. An examination of his voting record indicates that Stark has voted to allow funding of abortion by the Federal government. I guess he doesn’t equate abortion with killing.
On other issues he voted against the bill to allow families to preserve the higher child tax credit, against abolishing the “marriage-penalty,” and against the Jobs and Economic Growth bill that would provide tax breaks to families with children and provide money to the Medicaid system. Again, for someone who is crying foul on the President’s veto of the CHP bill, Stark seems to not have a very child-friendly voting record.
Maybe the Representative from California should just shut-up and sit down. He’s not doing himself, the country or his state any favors by acting like a fool in front of Congress. For that matter, maybe the voters of California should get off their collective asses and get someone with a little moral fiber in office.
