Ladies, Please Remove Your Bras

You just have to love it when court room security gets out of hand. What am I referring to, you ask? How about the Marshall Service in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho that told a woman she could not enter the court building when her underwire bra set off the metal detector? Now that is an overzealous security measure!

According to an article in the Spokesman Review, Lori Plato set off the metal detector as she was entering the courthouse for a hearing. The Marshall monitoring the metal detector stopped her and asked if she was wearing an underwire bra. When, Mrs. Plato replied that she was, the Marshall said, “You have to remove it.”

When Mrs. Plato asked if there was someplace private to remove the bra she was told there was not, but she could go to her car and remove it there. Um, because a car in a courthouse parking lot is so much more private. And, to add insult to injury, the Marshalls insisted that she allow her bra to go through the baggage screener for all to see!

What they should have done is provide a private changing room for cases such as this and then hand screened the bra in a private place.

Is it me or are things just getting way out of hand with anti-terrorism security measures? I mean I understand the need for security but, making people remove their undergarments is just ridiculous.

Why not take things one step further and make us all strip before entering a secured area? That way we can be sure that there are no hidden pockets or foreign materials being smuggled into secured areas.

Wait! What am I saying! There are some people I just do not want to see without clothes!

Guess we will just have to resign ourselves to being humiliated in the name of security and that our nation is slowly becoming a police state…

Ain't That a Kick in the Pants

After three years of dedicated service, my most recent employer decided it was time to part ways. This after arriving home on a Saturday afternoon from a week-long business trip to the happy-time town of Miamisburg, OH. So, back into the roiling waters of the job market I go. Anyone need a moderately talented trainer skilled in needs analysis, scope preparation, curriculum development and course facilitation?

He's Baaaaaaack!

After a long absence, I am back and blogging about the things that get my goat, raise my interest and keep me from slumbering at night. With all that is happening in this wacky world we live in, I am sure there will be plenty to write about. Watch for articles about politics, news, food, drink, deals, etc. Its like your on-line home for a "Today" show-like experience only snarkier. For now, peruse some of the older (OK, very old) posts on this blog to get an idea of what I have in store for you. You will soon find yourself embroiled in wild rants, questionable raves and challenging discussion. Can you dig it?

Welcome

Ever step out of your house early in the morning, sniff the cool, moist air of the new day and just know that everyone, everywhere is out to get you? Have you ever woke up in the middle of the night, sweating, breathing hard, your heart pounding in your chest from a particularly vivid dream involving alien abduction, leisure suits, and fruit cocktail? Have you ever gone to the grocery store gotten a cart with a jittery wheel, fantasized about the produce, wondered if the surveillance cameras saw you stuff the rump roast down your shorts, and tried to purchase beer with food stamps? Me either. I was just wondering. Welcome to my blog. I plan to use this little slice of the Internet to post some of my random thoughts. I'll post reviews of restaurants, movies, and anything else I feel like reviewing. I'll post travelogues with info about trips I have taken, places I have seen, and people I have met. I'll post rants about politics, the economy, public figures, and p...
