Remembering

All across the nation, in the small towns, in the big cities, along the flowing rivers, and in the shadows of the majestic mountains people are preparing to enjoy their holiday off from work. Parents are loading beach blankets, coolers and sun umbrellas into the trunk of the family van and then strapping their brood into car seats for the trek to the beach. Couples are driving the winding roads of Napa Valley in their convertible, the top down, happily chatting about the last winery they visited. Barbeque pits are being fired up and beer bottles are being opened. And for most of these people not a thought is being given to the men and women this day is meant to honor.

I woke up this morning after sleeping in a bit and channel surfed a bit past Fox News channel. They were broadcasting live from Arlington National Cemetery in Washington D.C. They were honoring the men and women who had given their lives in service to our great nation.

In the past year over 1,000 of our brave young men and women have forfeited their lives for something they believed in, for the country that nurtured them and gave them the opportunities they enjoyed. They felt it necessary to serve that nation in return for the many blessing it bestowed upon them. They unselfishly contributed to the fight against terrorism in an attempt to make a difference. Regardless of what detractors like Cindy Sheehan say, these soldiers and sailors are doing an important service to the American people. They are heroes that protect us from the evil cloud spreading throughout the world. They deserve our respect and support.

I have said it before and I will say it again. Thank a servicemember when you see them. Thank them for their service, thank them for their sacrifice, and thank them for protecting you, your children, and your country.

I thank God there are men and women willing to keep my family safe, may God keep them safe as well.

Ain't That a Kick in the Pants

After three years of dedicated service, my most recent employer decided it was time to part ways. This after arriving home on a Saturday afternoon from a week-long business trip to the happy-time town of Miamisburg, OH. So, back into the roiling waters of the job market I go. Anyone need a moderately talented trainer skilled in needs analysis, scope preparation, curriculum development and course facilitation?

He's Baaaaaaack!

After a long absence, I am back and blogging about the things that get my goat, raise my interest and keep me from slumbering at night. With all that is happening in this wacky world we live in, I am sure there will be plenty to write about. Watch for articles about politics, news, food, drink, deals, etc. Its like your on-line home for a "Today" show-like experience only snarkier. For now, peruse some of the older (OK, very old) posts on this blog to get an idea of what I have in store for you. You will soon find yourself embroiled in wild rants, questionable raves and challenging discussion. Can you dig it?

Welcome

Ever step out of your house early in the morning, sniff the cool, moist air of the new day and just know that everyone, everywhere is out to get you? Have you ever woke up in the middle of the night, sweating, breathing hard, your heart pounding in your chest from a particularly vivid dream involving alien abduction, leisure suits, and fruit cocktail? Have you ever gone to the grocery store gotten a cart with a jittery wheel, fantasized about the produce, wondered if the surveillance cameras saw you stuff the rump roast down your shorts, and tried to purchase beer with food stamps? Me either. I was just wondering. Welcome to my blog. I plan to use this little slice of the Internet to post some of my random thoughts. I'll post reviews of restaurants, movies, and anything else I feel like reviewing. I'll post travelogues with info about trips I have taken, places I have seen, and people I have met. I'll post rants about politics, the economy, public figures, and p...
